Description

When attempting to make a small loop track, you somehow get stuck within your own DAW! You have now entered a fast paced, non-stop platformer, with a massive laser (the play head) chasing you. Run through your own track and try to activate the different notes to complete the loop! Since it’s a loop, making it to the end will only send you right back to the start. Now the only escape is to activate all the instruments in the track!

Tutorial

Use WASD to move around and Space to jump. Run away from the play head (the large line) to avoid wasting time. Running to the far right edge will loop you back to the beginning, but watch out because the play head loops back as well. Your goal is to activate all of the notes on the current layer. You can activate notes by bonking into them from below (Mario style). When you’ve activated all of the notes on the layer you’ll be moved to the next layer. There is a counter for how many times the track loops (counted when the play head gets to the far right). Try to complete all the layers and escape with as few loops as possible. 

Fitting the Theme

Our team (composed of musicians), really liked the interpretation of the “Loop” theme being the making of a music loop. Originally we were looking at making a Guitar Hero inspired game. Each level having you play one instrument while the instruments played from previous level would play in the background. Realizing this idea was way too big for the short time we had (because of busy schedules we had less than two days to work on it), we decided to shelve it. But, after brainstorming a bit we were able to find a work around that would work as a stepping stone to the larger game.
